Freshwater Action Network
– grassroots influencing on water and sanitation

Time to bid farewell to FAN after 6 remarkable years

Ceridwen Johnson

It is with excitement tinged with sadness that I announce that I will be leaving the FAN Global secretariat at the end of March. I have been offered a new position leading the Advocacy and Communications work on the Sanitation and Water for All Partnership (SWA)  and will be based at the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) in Geneva, Switzerland
I would like to say a big thank you to the FAN Global secretariat and, in particular, Danielle Morley, who has been supportive of my 6 year career at FAN where I have learnt more than I ever imagined, met some of the most incredible people and been given the most amazing opportunities to visit countries all over the world, work with FAN members and understand the issues they face. Thanks to all of the members of FAN!  You have been inspiring work colleagues and it has been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to work for a global network of grassroots experts in advocacy and water and sanitation.  Last year, I produced the FAN annual report, which also celebrated ten years of impact of FAN. I am proud to have been part of this global movement and been involved in making a difference in the sector.

The SWA is an alliance of national governments, donors, civil society organizations and other development partners working together to ensure that enough resources are available for water, sanitation and hygiene, to be spent where they are most needed and in the way that is most effective. So, I’m staying in the sector and will be putting to good use all my knowledge, skills and experience gained whilst working with FAN!

Staying in the sector, I am sure that my path will continue to cross with tin my future role.  Working with FAN has served to strengthen my belief that a strong and vibrant civil society will transform the way in which water is managed, accessed and respected. I will remain a committed supporter of the work of Freshwater Action Network and will be keeping a keen eye on developments as FAN Global becomes independent in July 2012.

congratulations and wishing you all the best

You are still in the sector, so we are not going to miss you

Dear CJI'm shocked but very happy for you. congratulations that is a big step. I remember the 1st time we met in DC and you welcomed me to the FAN family! You were amazing. I admired your commitment, ethusiasm, courage and energy--you had it all. I will always remember and treasure the  lobby meetings in the UN /WB corridors, the dancing and singing in Nepal and swimming in Costa Rica! I hope you will continue with the same commitment and energy. I wish you all the  luck!

Good luck
