FAN Nepal members have been engaging community members to inform them about their rights to water and sanitation. The training has been a real success and have captured the attention of local government and received a lot of media coverage.

"Thanks to the funding from DFID, we have been able to reach well beyond WaterAid partners and meet with grassroots communities" says FAN Nepal national committee member, Ratan Budhathoki, who is also one of the trainers.

"We have been training our members in remote areas about the lobbying work that has been happening with our government on pushing the RTWS in the new constitution and letting them know how it can be a useful tool for gaining increased access to water and sanitation," says FAN Nepal Country Convenor, Lajana Manandhar.

The trainings have been a real success. They have 14 captured the attention of local government and received a lot of media coverage.

"I am very much excited to see the changes in thinking about the rights by the grassroots people after this training,” shared Anil Sthapit, another member and trainer, "They are now set to influence and educate their community members and lobby the lawmakers of their constituencies."

After the training, Maya Tamang, a participant from the central sub-national chapter, explains how important she feels it to have water and sanitation recognised as a fundamental right in the constitution:

"Every citizen should be ensured of access to safe water. I am now committed to lobby for my right. If government fail to respond, I may not vote for them in the next election."
