EU Water Initiative

The EU Water Initiative aims to improve coordination of EC and EU member states' development expenditure on water and sanitation, focusing on water resource management as well as service delivery.

Launched in 2002 in Johannesburg, at the World Summit on Sustainable Development, the initiative was signed by the Presidents of South Africa, Nigeria and the European Commission, and by the Secretary-General of the UN

The EUWI Coordination group, formally known as the Steering Group, includes a number of selected stakeholders tasked with guiding the operational delivery of the strategic objectives and annual work programme of the Initiative. Danielle Morley,  Executive Secretary represents CSOs on the group.
