ANEW Funding
Freshwater Action Network
FAN provides ANEW with core funding to support the Secretariat and some activities.
European Union Water Facility (EUWF)
The second application for European funding was successful. The 3 year project seeks to strengthen and build the capacity of ANEW structures, governance and its ability to engage with different stakeholders.
From November 2007, the EU will provide 75% of the funding for a project promoting and improving the advocacy and participation capacities of African civil society organisations.
T
he funding will enhance the ability of network members to participate in consultation about water sanitation and water resource management across the continent.
In November 2007, ANEW was awarded a grant by European Union Water Facility for a three year program with the aim of promoting and improving the capacities of African Civil Society organisations for advocacy and participation in governance. This program targets 18 countries in Africa with specific activities including:
- Lobbying for CSO space in policy processes
- institutional capacity building
- training in communication skills and effective advocacy
ANEW will to establish 4 regional offices in Uganda, Botswana, and Dakar and in one country in Central Africa.
