POSITIVE STEPS TOWARDS DEVELOPING FAN-SOUTH ASIA (FANSA)

Civil society organisations working on water in Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan and India launched FAN South Asia (FANSA) following a regional level meeting in Nepal in January 2008

Over 20 representatives, nominated at national and sub-national meetings came together to plan joint advocacy activities and take further steps towards building a strong and vibrant regional network.

They are currently developing plans in line with the agreed advocacy agenda on the right to water and sanitation services and climate change.

The FANSA interim committee is represented by three nominated members from each member country, Nepal, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

'We welcome the SACOSAN declaration. We must now hold governments accountable to their promises. The sustainable development of South Asia depends on good sanitation. Up to now governments have failed to act with the urgency required.'
