NEER Foundation win a World Water Champion Award

On World Water Day, FAN member National Environmental Education and Research (NEER) Foundation received the Water Champion Award 2009. Added in May 

 

Nepal National Water Week
Nepal’s Water and Energy Commission Secretariat has formed a national organizing committee to observe a week long event on the occasion of World Water Day 2010 from 17-23 March 2010. The week will include the World’s Longest Toilet Queue – coordinated by FANSA, EWP and the WASH coalition – as part of its main program on 20 March. March 2010

 

Siddhipur exposure visit and leadership camp

'FAN Champions' from FAN Nepal undertook an exposure visit to Siddhipur, a model eco village in Lalitpur on 5 March 2010. Mr Krishna Dongol, a FAN Nepal member welcomed members to his village. Following the exposure visit the team participated in a three day leadership training camp from 6-8 March 2010 in Dhulikhel. March 2010

 

Regional workshop on WASH preparedness for climate change

FANSA delegates from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and representatives of SaciWaters along with experts and the stakeholders met to understand the science and politics of climate change and how this will affect the WASH sector. March 2010

 

Government of Bihar introduces meaningful water and sanitation policy

Thanks largely to WaterAid's efforts, the Bihar state government is introducing a much more meaningful water and sanitation policy for the state which recognises the right of its citizens for access to drinking water and sanitation. It also has several other important provisions which are landmark in nature - most significantly they are seeking civil society feedback. March 2010

 

FAN Nepal National Committee meeting
National committee members of FAN Nepal convened on March 2010 to plan for the World’s Longest Toilet Queue, review their annual progress and share the outcomes of the FANSA steering committee meeting held in Dhaka 16-19 February 2010. The meeting will approve the next year’s programmes and budgets. March 2010

FANSA member, the Sri Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), has won the prestigious SAFA award for excellent financial reporting. SVYM is a proud member of FANSA, housing FANSA Karnataka Chapter in India. Dr Seetharam, its leader, is Co-Convenor for FANSA India as well as convenor for FANSA Karanataka Chapter. Mapping the progress of the Delhi Declaration

On 9-11 November, FAN South Asia held a civil society SACOSAN meeting of 70 grassroots organisations from all over South Asia along with WaterAid and the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) to review the commitments made on sanitation by South Asian governments. updated on 13 November 2009

 

Right to water and sanitation planning meeting report

On 5 August, a coalition of WaterAid India, WASH forum and FANSA organised a planning meeting to look at the right to water and sanitation in India and to share experiences of securing rights for education, health, food and work.
