Africa’s Water and Sanitation Goodwill Ambassador ANEW and WaterAid hosted a very colourful ceremony at the 2nd Africa Water Week to officially recognize President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf as the first Goodwill Ambassador for Water and Sanitation in Africa.

 

ANEW’s Strategic plan

The ANEW Strategic Plan, which has been developed through a lengthy consultative process and will guide ANEW’s activities for next five years, is now available.

  

Governing Council meeting and the second global communications workshop in Costa Rica

These key meetings will take place at the end of January in Costa Rica. The Governing Council will focus on agreeing FAN’s strategy following a lively communications workshop developing and sharing skills, knowledge and best practice.

Civil society demands action

On 8 November 2009, in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa members of civil society met for a consultation, hosted by the African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation (ANEW), to review progress made and identify immediate calls for action during the 2nd African Water Week.

FANSA review sanitation commitments in South Asia

A civil society regional meeting will take place on 9 November in order to analyse progress since SACOSAN III and to plan joint activities in the lead up to the next South Asian Conference on Sanitation taking place in Colombo next year. 12 November 2009

 

Water makes a splash at the Barcelona Climate Change negotiations

On 3 November, three FAN members attended a day of dialogue, discussion and presentations on Water for Climate Change adaptation and mitigation, taking place alongside the UN Climate Change negotiations in Barcelona.

  

Meeting with UK Government on right to water

Kolleen Bouchane FAN's Advocacy Action and Learning Officer met with officials from the UK Department for International Development and the UK Foreign Office to discuss the UK Government position on recognition of the right to sanitation.

 

FAN receives ANEW award

FAN were humbled at ANEW's recent General Assembly when they received an appreciation award for their contribution to the growth and development of the network. 10 Ocober 2009

Stockholm World Water Week 2009

FAN's involvement in Stockholm World Water Week was more effective and dynamic than ever this year. The long and fruitful week of meetings, learning, lobbying and networking saw members making key contacts, attending valuable learning sessions and spreading the word about the FAN network. 21 September 2009
