ANEW General Assembly

ANEW AGM

ANEW's AGM took place in Maseru, Lesotho on 7-9 October. The historic gathering brought together water and sanitation experts from forty countries across Africa and was attended by over ninety ANEW members as well as global partners Freshwater Action Network (FAN), WaterAid and End Water Poverty.

The first two days of the meeting focused on celebrating ANEW's achievements with members presenting their experiences and participating in discussions around key themes. These were followed by a day focussed on ANEW's new five year strategic plan, which was approved by the members at the event.

The newly elected directors for the ANEW Board were also formally endorsed during the meeting. For an up to date list of ANEW's board members, please see the membership web page.

Participants visited two villages in Lesotho to witness advocacy in action and were asked to write up their perspectives of the field visit to be entered into a writing competition. The winning article will be published in the next edition of our newsltter, ANEW Voice.

We are grateful to all those who participated and we hope to deepen and develop our working relationships as we all strive to ensure that Africa is on course towards achieving the millennium development goals in water and sanitation.

ANEW is particularly thankful to the Transformation Resource Centre for their key role in organizing and hosting the event.
