Another chance for you to get your photos on the front cover of FAN's printed newsletter!

 

World leaders are gathering at the United Nations Climate Change Convention in Copenhagen to agree a future global response to climate change.

 

Send us your pictures that show the local impacts of climate change on water use, environment and livelihoods.

 

The competition is open to all members and associate members of Freshwater Action Network (FAN) so get snapping!    

Terms and conditions

  • To enter, email your photo to isabella@freshwateraction.net.
  • All entries must be the entrant's own original work.  Please consider what makes a good photograph. A photograph is a message. It conveys a statement, an impression or an emotion. It should be conveyed in a clear, concise, and effective way.
  • FAN's mission is to improve water governance by strengthening the role of civil society in decision-making. We'd like to find out more about what FAN members are doing in this area so please send a short description of how the photograph illustrates your work.
  • There will be no prize for entering the competition however the winning entry will be published in February 2009 edition of Freshwater News and will receive US$50 in book tokens.                          
  • The winning entry will be chosen by the FAN communications team made up of Andres Mora        , FAN Central America (FANCA), Ceridwen Johnson - FAN International, Lorena Díaz Loyola - FAN Mexico (FAN-Mex),  Joana Bezerra                                     - FAN South America (FANAS), Boniface Mwihaki - African Civil Society Network on Water and Sanitation (ANEW) and Prakash Amatya - FANSA
  • Entrants warrant and undertake that photos submitted will not infringe intellectual property, privacy or any other rights of any third party. Entrants must ensure that any person or persons whose image is used in an entry has given valid consent for the use of their image or has waived any rights they may have in the image submitted. Where such person is under 16, the consent of that person's parent or guardian must be obtained. Failure to adequately demonstrate such consent to the satisfaction of FAN may result in the entrant's disqualification and forfeiture of any prize.
  • The winning entry will be published two weeks after it is presented in the newsletter. Winner will be notified within 30 days of the relevant closing date and name of winner will be available by emailing FAN up to one month after the closing date.
  • In consideration of FAN agreeing to consider the entry, each entrant grants to FAN an irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence for the full period of copyright to publish or otherwise use the entry in so far as is relevant to this specific competition in any way and at any time and to sub-license such rights to any third-party.
  • FAN will use reasonable efforts to assert the entrant's moral rights in the photograph. However FAN may cut, edit, crop or arrange the entry as it sees fit and shall be entitled to sub-licence such right to third-parties.
  • For the avoidance of doubt, all rights in the photographs other than those granted to FAN under paragraph above are retained by the entrant.
  • No responsibility is taken for entries lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete due to server functions or failures, virus, bugs, technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or any other causes outside FAN's control. Proof of entry is not proof of receipt.
  • FAN shall not be responsible for the return of entries.
  • Winners may be required to take part in promotional activity and FAN reserves the right to use the names and addresses of winners, their photographs and any media submitted by them in relation to the promotion in any publicity.
  • Any personal data submitted by the entrant will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation.
