Millennium Development Goals

The Millennium Declaration was adopted in September 2000 by 189 world leaders. They drew up 8 Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) to "free all men, women and children from the abject and dehumanizing conditions of extreme poverty" by the year 2015. 

Water and Sanitation

Water and sanitation are covered under MDG Goal 7

Integrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and program and reverse the loss of environmental resources

Halve, by 2015, the proportion of people without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation

Have achieved, by 2020, a significant improvement in the lives of at least 100 million slum dwellers
